On my 1991 GMC Suburban, 207,000 miles equipped with power locks, the rear barn doors do not open. I have noticed that the thumb button seems to pop in and out without engaging the internal mechanisms. I have looked inside the access panel and explored the linkages and whatnot, but I am lost. I prefer to do repairs myself, but this is really challenging. please help!

Hello,

You will need to remove the rear door panel and look inside to see why the latch is not opening it will have something to do with the linkage. Here is a guide to help you get the door panel off.
