First, if you are doing this yourself, you must locate the hose yourself. The by-pass hose the short hose located on the pump itself. Once you find it then you can determine what parts you must take off. Depending on your level of mechanical inclination and what tools you have this job is pretty easy. If you remove the fan and serpentine belt it will make the job easier.
While you have the serpentine belt removed, check it for cracks and missing grooves. If you find any, now is the time to replace it. Also, spin the serpentine belt adjuster and idler pulley by hand. Check for any worn bearings or grinding sounds from these pulleys. If any replace them.
Remember to drain the radiator coolant a little bit when replacing the bypass hose. This will reduce the amount of fluid that will spill when you remove the hose. Let me know how you make out.
