My husband and I were driving down the highway at about 65 mph. The display started beeping and displayed Service Brakes Soon and the Tahoe shutdown. My husband was able to get us safely off the highway coasting to a nearby parking lot. We have Onstar and had them run a diagnostic which showed nothing wrong with the vehicle. We've been unable to start the vehicle since. We towed it to my husbands work and had a mechanic run another diagnostic check. Nothing is coming up as being wrong. The ABS light comes on when we try and start the Tahoe but, the Tahoe still will not start? Any ideas?

A service brakes soon light is a trouble code indicator. There is a trouble code stored in your computer somewhere. If not, there is something wrong with your computer. A special code scanner is needed to scan a brake system. Make sure your mechanic has this type of scanner. If not a dealer will have one. Also, usually when there is a problem with the brake system, and a service brake soon light comes on, the engine will not just shut off-because when your engine shuts off-so does your power steering and your brake booster. I'm leaning towards a computer problem. Keep me posted

BTW Did you recently clean the engine with a power washer? If not, kindly dis-regard that question.

The Service Brakes Soon light will not make the car shut down FYI. This sounds like the fuel pump had gone bad or the instrument cluster is having issues. Here is a video that can help you find out what's going on.

Here is how to change the fuel pump out in case you need it after watching the video. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
