Electrical problem
2004 Chevy Suburban Four Wheel Drive Automatic 70,000 miles

I haven't had any problems with the battery on our Suburban, but went to start it yesterday and it wouldn't turn over. Had a friend try to give me a jump to no avail- but had full power in my headlights. Had it towed in to service center. They said that the battery has a "bad cell" Is this possible and what does it mean? Why would the
lights work if the battery was dead?

Hi:
Batteries can short out internally. So, yes it may have a dead cell. As far as the lights, they don't pull nearly the amps as the starter does. Out of courisity, when the lights were on, did you try to start it? If so, did the lights dim?

Let me know.

Joe
