Belt squeal

I have a 96 Chevrolet C1500 Silverado with at 5 litre engine. Approx. 130,000 miles. I have an intermittent sepertine fan belt squeal that seems to sound every revolution around the pulleys. The fan belt, tensioner, water pump and pulleys have all been replaced, some several times. Every time the belt is removed and replaced the sound will disappear for about 24 hours and then start up again. Any ideas?

Make certain that you have the correct belt.I would also recommend a GM belt if you are using an aftermarket belt.

Yes, after using several different belts a GM correct belt was installed. Still have the squeal.

I have 1999 silverado 5.3 with the same problem. Change belt, stop squealing for about 24 hr and the starts again. Wondering if rowe1891 found anything outyet.

One thing it might be is the power steering. Check to make sure you have the correct amount of fluid and make sure the power steering is actualy working. Sometimes that may be the case. Let me know how it goes!
