Hi, question about my Chevy Silverado 1500HD. I just checked my brakes and I still have lots of life in my brake shoes. However when I drive I still hear a squealing sound, and now it's gotten to be all the time while driving.
The sound goes away when I reach 50KM/hr. What can it be? My disks are rough around the edges I was thinking that maybe that would be it.

Have you checked the brakes front and rear? Also, be sure to check the parking brake shoes if you have rear disc brakes.

Make sure the backing plates are not touching the back sides of the brake rotors.

Hum, when I was looking at the brakes they looked pretty close to the disk. So I guess I would need to reset the caliper?

If they are thin and the wear indicator tab is touching the disc, it's time to change the pads.
