I tried to engage the 4 wheel drive on my truck and the indicator lights went out and "service 4 wheel drive soon" message appeared on the message center but it never went into 4 wheel drive and still won't. It's staying in 2 wheel drive but the indicator lights are still out. I checked the fuse and it's good and tried to reset the computer. No luck, other than the "service 4 wheel drive soon" message went away. I was needing to know what to do next. I thought about trying to get it checked with a computer readout at Advance Auto Parts Store.

Have you checked to see if there is power to the actuator on the transfer case?

No, not yet. That was going to be my next move but I have to get my test light out of storage. I have been building a garage and put most of my tools in a storage building. I was hoping that it was a common problem and someone would know it from experience but I checked with Chevrolet Garage and they wanted $85.00 to check the computer readout. Thanks for the advice. It seems like it should be something simple like a blown fuse by the way it acted when it tore up. I'll try to get around to checking the actuator tomorrow if I'm not too busy. Thanks, again.

Honestly, it sounds like a bad actuator. That is why I was wondering if there was a power supply to it. When you get the chance, let me know. I know what it's like to be in the middle of 20 different projects. I'll be waiting.
