I have a 1998 Chevy Z71 with around 136,000 miles on it. I have been driving my truck for about 70,000 miles now with only minor problems. Starting around 95,000 miles I had a funny problem starting the truck. The battery was fully charged and the truck fired up with NO hesitation at all but then immediately died after about 1 of running. This happened over and over. I had the truck towed to a shop and of course it fired right up with no problems. A few years and a few thousand miles later same problem. After disconnecting the battery for anywhere from 5 minutes to 10 hours and reconnecting (sometimes multiple times) it will fire up like normal. This problem would occur usually 2-3 days in a row then not again for 6 months to a year.
I have heard that it might possibly be something with my steering column or even the computer. I would really appreciate it if any of you out there have heard of or dealt with this problem. Thank you in advance for any help.
