I am so frustrated. I've had my truck towed twice to my mechanic and we are at a loss.
Problem. The truck overall has been awesome. Now it won't start intermittently. I drive it for a week, it starts great. Then all of a sudden, the engine turns but no fire. I had it towed to my mechanic and we checked the pressure at the Fuel Pump and it was a little low so we replaced it. The truck then started and ran great for a week. I went out last Friday, same problem, would not fire. I had it towed again to my mechanic and when they let it down off the wrecker, it started. It's started now for 2 days but I am scared to take it out of town. I was reviewing the forum and see that 1997's have had a history of a bad ignition switches. Would that cause such a problem? I would sincerely appreciate any thoughts you may have. I don't need another tow. Sounds like something electrical to me. Rick.

I have no idea of what an Injector Pulse is but I'll pass that on to my mechanic.

If I get to the point of where it happens again in my work parking lot, do you have any idea's of what I could "move around, strike, re-seat" or whatever to see if I can get the motor to engage? I was brave last night and drove to my son's track meet 60 miles away and prayed it started right up afterwards and it did. But, I'm real scared it'll not start for me some where out of town. I'm fairly mechanical but with all the electrical components, it's really difficult to diagnose, as you know.

The one time it wouldn't start, I pumped and pumped the accelerator and I could not smell any gas. But the second time I tried to start it, 2 hours later, I could very much smell gas but no fire. But then, hours later, it started like nothing was wrong. Real frustrating.

Did they check to see if the fuel pressure regulator is leaking? It is located on top of the engine on the fuel rail.

Thanks for your input. I'll pass the word onto my mechanic. It's started now for 4 days so it's last 7 days each time before it won't start again and needs the attention of a tow truck and mechanic.
