I have an 88 chevy pickup truck with high miles and from time to time the speedometer stops working. I used a code scanner and it said speed sensor was bad, but where is it located. Also when the speedometer doesnt work I seem to have more power going up hills or on interstate.

The power issue is odd unless the trans isn't shifting into a higher gear. That will cause it to seem like it has more power.

As far as the VSS, I need to know what trans you have.

With the 4wd set up and the 700R4 trans the VSS is located on the transfer case.
