im new to this and i need alot of help

i took my truck to a shop to get a head replaced they said i had a bad lifter and they had to shave where the piston goes to fix it....my question is does the engine compression change by doin that and what effects does that have on my truck

i have a 1996 blazer 4.3 lter engine it has 181000 miles on it
