I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY 1998 MONTE CARLO LS NOT WANTING TO START BUT I COULD WIGLE AND PLAY WITH THE KEY AND IT WOULD FINALLY START WELL I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND REPLACED THE KEY CAUSE I WAS TOLD THE CHIP WAS BAD AND THAT FIXED FOR BOUT THREE MONTHS THEN ONE DAY I STOPPED TO GET GAS AND IT WOULDNT START BACK UP FOR SOME REASON THE STARTER IS NOT GETTING ANY POWER TO IT AT ALL BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS FINE AS FAR AS ELECTRICAL. I HAVE CHECKED EVERYTHING FROM THE FUSES TO THE STARTER ITSELF AND EVERYTHING GOOD BUT STILL NO POWER I EVEN TOOK THE BATTERY CABLES OFF FOR 24HRS TO TRY AND RESET EVERYTHING SO WHAT DO I DO?

Sounds to me that the chip wasnt the problem, but instead it was hte ignition switch. Have it tested, I belive that it is not giving hte starter 12v. Also check out the starter relay.
