1998 Chevy Monte Carlo tail lights

for a while I had problems with brake lights. I discovered that they still worked but I need to pull back my turn signal switch slightly to get them to come on. Now my tail lights are completely out but brake lights still work and act the same. Also my instrument panel lights just went out. Do I need to just replace my dimmer switch to fix this problem or is there more to it? Thank you
