Ya know what every one is saying the same thing Mines dont have problems any more but I use to I really cant explain everything because I been typing these messages all night. But This happen to me plenty of times so might take my advice-ignition wires not catching fire, key chip on key-black little piece, may not be reading the ignition because the key ciuld be a little dirty - that should be clean at all times you shouldnt let nothing touch that key because its really sensitive, and what it probably is is the battery, I know it sounds stupid like whatever but I experienced these problems few times with both of my monte carlos. Either have the baatery recharged or get a new or the alternator can be draing the battery out ' that was a guess I never exprienced any problems with my alternators. But yeah I would try the battery thing first and its not your engine your engine would not cause your car not to start up
