I changed the fuse and the turn signals are still cutting out. I think it might be the relay. Where do I find the relay on a 2001 chevy malibu? If that doesnt work what else could be wrong?

Electrical problem
6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 70000 miles

How do you replace the emergency flasher switch/flasher unit on a 2001 Malibu. How do you remove the dash trim piece without breaking it and does the unit itself just "snap" in or is there a "trick" to get the old one out and the new one in? Thanks.

Here are instructions on how to remove the switch:

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TRIM PANEL

Removal 1. Disable Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

2. Remove screws from lower steering column trim cover.

3. Remove upper steering column trim cover from steering column.

4. Remove screws from instrument panel cluster trim plate.

5. Gently pry out instrument panel cluster trim plate form instrument panel carrier with a small flat-bladed tool.

6. Remove instrument panel cluster trim plate from instrument panel carrier.

7. Disconnect electrical connector from instrument panel dimmer switch.

8. Disconnect electrical connector from hazard warning switch. Installation

No, just something metal and smooth to get behind the panel with to pop it out after the screws are removed.

Electrical problem
2004 Chevy Malibu 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have an 04 malibu. The drivers side turn signal flashes rapidly. I have checked the bulbs, they are fine. When I turn on the flashers only the passenger side flashes and the driver side stays illuminted. Cant decide if it is the hazard switch or the turn signal switch, or something else.

You'll need to replace the multi-function switch. It is the turn signals, hazards, high beam, etc.

The switch is a unit including the turn signal lever, cruise, wipers etc. Thus Multi-Function switch. It is located behind the steering wheel.

I had the same problem in my malibu. It is the hazard light switch. It controlls everything. It pops right out. Cost me about 25.00 and all is well. The button you push in to use hazard lights pop that whole thing out. It is a long piece thatc contraolls it all.
