Hello,

My Chevy Lumina has just started having a clicking/ticking noise when the engine is running. I have changed out the oil and flushed the system, so I know that it is not an oil issue. Any other ideas of how or what I can check? Someone said it might be a bad pushrod, but I am unsure how to check that.

When you accelerate, the clicking gets faster. I don't want to push the car until I diagnose the problem to see if I can fix it. Any help is appreciated. Thx!

The noise is the Oil Pump.

An estimated 40% of all the engines manufactured that were put into that car WILL get that noise. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it except replace the whole engine if the noise annoys you.

You may want to check your coolant levels and other fluids though. Make sure you got enough of everything. Keep a close eye on your oil levels as well since it looks like your car has been on the road plenty.

Thanks for the advice. I will keep an eye on everything, but it is good to hear that the noise is common, but not harmful.
