1988 Acura Legend; about 3 months ago my engine was over heating. I changed the heat sensor and it ran fine. now the same problem is back, the car over heats every time I drive it, the fans never come on. I keep my coolant and oil on full so I hope I have not hurt the engine. is there any way to fix this problem or perhaps to bypass the thermostat sensor?

Suggested Repair

Start diagnosis with the cooling fans that never come on, and check fan operation and the fan relay before considering other cooling-system parts.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 1988 Acura Legend reported recurring overheating after replacing a heat sensor about three months earlier. The cooling fans do not come on, while coolant and oil levels are full, and the owner asked about a repair or bypassing the thermostat sensor. The expert advised starting with the fans that never come on. Another user suggested checking the fan relay based on personal experience and mentioned an improvised manual fan switch.
