Can you provide a hint of where the fluid is leaking from? The rack and pinion assemblies cause more steering problems than the pumps.

How do you remove a power steering pump from a 2000 Impala? Mine is leaking and I can't figure out where it is leaking from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Remove the belt, remove the two hoses from the pump, remove the bolts that hold the pump to the engine, remove the pump.

If its the same as my 2003, it is well hidden. Look below the alternator near the firewall. Its a "feel for it" thing if you can wriggle your hands down there.

Hey SANDERSMKRL,

The pump is located on top under the fluid reservoir. First remove the serpentine belt and then the mounting bolts here are a couple of guides and a diagram that will help.

and

Passenger side of engine - upper left side underneath the alternator. Next to the belt
you have to have long arms and small hands to reach it. Strong fingers are a plus for opening the black lid.
It helps if you remove coolant resv. First, just two small nuts.
