2003 Chevy Impala 6 cyl Automatic

We replaced the front brake pads and now the car won't start. We have an i-lock system on the car and the radio has a message that says: CAL ERR.

What exactly does the car do? Does it start for a second and then shut off? No crank? No crank no start? Does the theft light on the dash come on and flash with the key on and not go out?

The ilock tag on the key beeps like how it suppose to and then we put the key in and there is no crank or anything. The key is left at the on position and then the low fuel light, check engine light and sometimes the security light comes on and they rotate flashing the messages. The battery is good and all the fuses. The gas gauge does not move up like how it should when they key is in the on position.

I've tried to reset the alarm by putting the key in the ignition in the on setting for 10 minutes shutting off the car for 5 sec and then retrying to start but it still doesn't work and now my battery is dying. Do I make another donation for a faster answer?

No you do not have to make another donation for a faster answer but unfortunately I also coach flag football for the little guys and yesterday we had playoffs and championship games in one day so I was coaching four different football games and was not at my computer. When you are taking about a I lock, I assume it is a aftermarket alarm system. Look under the dash for a little black push button(this is a over ride) press the black button then attempt to crank engine over. If you cant find a black button then lets start from the beginning. When ignition key is turned to run position does the security light come on then flash then go out or does it continue to flash? If the light comes on and goes out we move to the next step which is checking for power at the smaller wire at the starter motor when in the crank position. A test light connected to ground will work the best.

I apologize for expecting an answer right away on a Sunday. You sound like that is such fun and enjoyable which is good to see the kids enjoy themselves! :)

I will check for the black button. The security light comes on after I release the key when it doesn't start. The security light comes on with the low fuel light and the service engine soon light. All three are flashing with the messages.

I will also check the starter wire but does the starter also release the fuel line to start? I have a half a tank of gas so I don't know why the low fuel light is on but when the key is turned to try starting that gas gauge arrow doesn't move.

The starter does not hold back fuel pressure, they are seperate systems. There are several possibilities of problems thats why we need to go down one path to find the answer to all your symptoms. Thats why checking the wire at the starter will help us determine if perhaps the ignition switch is bad causing your fuel gauge problem also.
