Engine Mechanical problem
1985 Chevy El Camino V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I put a new timming chain and gears in, I lined up the marks dot to dot. So I put every thing back on and go to start it and it wont start. So I pull the distributor out turned it 180 dagrees, cranked cranked cranked and cranked and it started to back fired, so I pull it out again and turned it 180 again and it started, so I ran it for a few minutes and one of the heater hoses sprong a leak so I turned it off, and fixed the hose and went to start it back up and it wont start help please

You probably got the distributor wet when the hose broke. REcheck your distributor timing, bring #1 up to TDC an dcheck where the rotor is pointing. You probably have this fixed by now.
