My chevy truck has some sort of electrical problem and the mechanics down here in mexico don't know whats up. I want to get out of here without having to tow the truck.

it is running like shit, eating up a ton of gas, and blowing out thick exhaust.

would it be possible to bypass the electrical on this truck and run it with just a regular manifold and carb?

if possible, what would be needed to do the job?

per my earlier post, I have replaced the CPU, distributor, spark plugs, starter, and the engine just got rebuilt.

any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am getting pretty frustrated at this point and am not sure what to do.

thanks

Try unplugging the MAP sensor to see if it will run any better. Also try that with the o2 sensor, if either one is shorted out they can cause the engine to go extremely rich like you describe. Have you tried scanning it for codes? Check all grounds (back of cylinder head)

Yeah tried all that. Yes scanned, no codes.
Also recently replaced the MAP, CPU, FUEL INJECTORS, FUEL PUMP, PLUGS, DIST.

Also how about the info on bypassing the electrical on this truck and running it with just a regular manifold and carb?
What would be needed to do this?

That was the question I was looking for answered.

Can be done, needs a special intake for the TBI heads, the center bolts are straight up and down instead of angled like the rest. The trans would be the big problem, you need to keep the wiring harness plugged in as much as possible so it knows when to shift. You will need a distributor as well, the one in those are computer controlled as far as advance goes. Did you check all of the grounds?
