I own a 97 Chevy Cavalier RS with 129,000 miles on it. It has a 4 cylinder engine and 2 wheel drive with an automatic transmission. It has started stalling right after I start it. Also, while I am at a stop light it idles rough...for example the whole car will shake. And at times I will hit the gas pedal and the engine will not accelerate as quickly as it should, like ti takes a second to realize I hit the gas pedal. I have replaced the fuel filter, and the crank position sensor, also the alternator and the battery are new and I believe the plugs and wires are new within the last 2 years Help!!! My mechanic apparently is not so bright because he said he can't get it to act up.

I have a 93 chevy cavilier, 220,000miles, 2.2l engine,4cylinder,automatic, with fuel injectors,It dies when ever it wants to it acts like it is not getting enough fuel through it, we have replaced the fuel filter,battery, MAP sensor, coil packs, and have tried to scan for codes but we have not been successful in doing that, it is not giving us a code that we can match up,we have checked out the fuel pump and it is fine,we are also getting spark from the plugs, Please help as soon a possible anybody I am about ready to pull out my hair on this. :?

Hello Kshill this is just afew suggestions, have you checked for vaccum leaks. You may also want to have the throttle cleaned with throttle cleaner. I also have a question for you, when you said you checked out the fuel pump was it removed from the car. If not the pump has a filter that is important to be replaced on a car with this type of mileage.



Amber have your plugs and wires checked for damage; if this car has a cap have the cap checked for damaged (cracks, corrosion). Even though the car has been tuned up over the past two years plugs only last at their peek for a year and a half.

ALso check for vaccum leaks, and have the throttle cleaned with throttle cleaner.
