2004 Chevy Cavalier wont start

Seems like not getting fuel gave it shot of starter fluid it ran normal briefly then died

Can you hear fuel pump prime up when first turning key in ignition?

Never ever herd the fuel pump prime in this car before must have been real quiet. Is there another way to tell

Will need to use a fuel pressure gauge to test for fuel pressure. If there is no pressure than fuel pump is most likely at fault. If there is pressure but its low then the fuel filter may be clogged.
