Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Chevy Cavalier Manual

When I've been driving my car for nearly an hour and come to a stop sign, my car will nearly die when I begin to apply gas while backing off on the clutch. The clutch feels like it shifts fine, and if I push in the clutch I can keep the car from dying, but as soon as I apply gas, it starts to die again. I will usually keep trying to apply the gas while feathering the clutch to keep it from dying and eventually it grabs and I am able to take off. Anyone have any ideas what this means?

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

Let me know.

Hey Joe,
Thanks for replying back to me regarding my Cavalier issue. I'm sorry that this reply is so late, I got married in December, and life was/has been crazy. Anyways, my husband replaced a sensor, and it seems to have been what the problem was, because we have not had the problem since.
Thanks again for the suggestions. It helped steer us in the right direction to figure out what was going on.
