When I got this car, the water pump needed to be replaced. We replaced the water pump and the vehicle is still overheating and dying out. What could be the cause for this?

Hello,

An engine can over heat due to few factors. It can be a faulty water pump, stuck closed thermostat, faulty cooling fan, clogged radiator etc.

Check the cooling fans. See if they come on when the vehicle is running at operating temperature. An inoperative fan can be the case of a faulty relay / wiring or a bad fan motor. The Cooling Fan Relay is located in the fuse box under the hood (see diagram)

Check to see if the thermostat is functional. If you have a stuck closed thermostat you will have noticeable temperature difference between the upper and lower radiator hose, due to coolant not being able to circulate.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
