The check engine light can mean about 30 things. You need to know exactly why it is on.
You need to get the Diagnostic Trouble Codes read from the DTC terminal under the dash. You can either go to your local auto parts store and purchse a cheap code reader, maybe they will do it for you, or go to a garage and pay a small price to have them read the codes for you.
Without the codes it is hard and expensive to just start replaceing parts.
