1997 Chevy Cavalier leaks-gas tank

hello im just wondering how can you tell if it is gas tank leak..im leaking fluid on the drivers side in back of car..is the gas tank on the drivers side or is it on passenger side where you gas up..would this be a gas tank leak.

Can you smell gas? The only part in the rear that can leak, and I assume it's not a very small leak, like oil from a shock? If it's gas, you will smell it, the tank is centered under the rear of the car.

yes there is a smell & i think its gas but its just because of where its leaking just underneath the back door on the drivers side I didnt think the gas tank was located there

You may have a fuel line leak, not a tank leak, have it looked at. you don't want to see what a cavalier on fire looks like!
