replaced the fuel pump about four weeks ago, and now it is acting up again. It died going up a hill at 55 mph, and then restarted and died again on another hill. Had it towed home, and it started again, but only went about 15 feet. I could no longer hear the fuel pump. I then hit the bottom of the fuel tank, and the fuel pump turned back on. It drove for about 30 more miles, and then died at a stop light, restarted and then died again, and would not start. Please if you have any answers please share. I also noticed that the oil light tends to kick on right before it dies. I thought that maybe there was a loose connection in the wiring harness of the fuel pump.

I would start by replacing the fuel pump relay. However, when you say it started when you hit the tank, it sounds more like a bad connection or loose wire. Did you check them when you replaced the pump?

I actually tested the wires out last night, and I had soemone turn the key while I shaked the wires, and I could hear the fuel pump cut in and out. So I got some contact cleaner, and cleaned the connectors and terminals and it seems to be doing fine now.

Thanks

Now you know for sure where the problem is. You may eventually have to remove the tank to repair one of the connections, but at least you will know what the problem is.
