I have a '92 cavalier, when I use my heater or defroster for an extended period of time my engine will die. If I am on the x-way and then exit after about 30 miles, when I come to a stop by engine will die. The car immediately starts up again but when put in drive it dies again. Everything will be ok after about 5 minutes but this issue keeps occuring and I live in cold weather so I need to use the heat. Any help here would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Hi:
I question if the heater has anything to do with the engine dieing. To me it sounds more fuel related. Have you ever had the fuel pump pressure tested? Also, is the check engine light coming on?

Hi:

If the light has been on, we need to start there. The computer needs scanned for codes. Many of the nationally recognized parts stores will do it for free. Have them scan it and let me know what you find.
