My 1989 Chevy Cavalier has the 2.0 L 4 cylinder engine with 90 K miles on it. AT, FWD, I have replaced the Coolant Temperature Sensor, O2 Sensor and Throttle Position Sensor and now it won't idle. It stalls unless I hold the gas peddle down some. Does it have to be trained to idle again? If so, what is the procedure? It seems like it is loading up at low RPMs and has to be revved up to clear it out.

Thanks,
Kent

Could have a vaccum hose leak or crack in the rubber hose. Also how long has it been since you had youre fuel filter replaced.

Thanks for your help but. After changing the O2 and coolant temp sensors it would idle really high until it got up to temperature. Then it would idle down to the point it would stall. The TPS was testing at 3.3 volts at idle instead of.45 to 1.2 volts per the manufacturer's specs. After changing the TPS it will not idle up enough to stay running. I don't think it is a fuel starvation problem. Other than not idling up enough it runs very well until it gets all the way warmed up. Then it seems to load up as if it is running too rich. Any other thoughts come to mind? Do you know if I need to "teach" it to idle like some of the newer cars? If so, do you know the procedure for this car? Thanks, Kent
