1996 Chevy Caprice Wiper Out of Time

On my cherry 1996 Caprice LT1, all of sudden the driver side windshield wiper is out of time with the passenger side. Turn them off and the wiper is in the middle of the glass - you can push it back to its rest position but when you turn it back on it goes stupid again.

Hi:
It sounds like there is a problem with the linkage if you can move them that easy. The linkage is under the cowl at the base of the windshield (outside). Remove the cowl to check it, and let me know what you find.
