Not sure about category?
When I turn on my windshield wipers they blow a fuse pretty often and then no wipers. Friend shade tree mechanic tried to fix it. Pro mechanic had me replace the wiper motor and for a while that seemed to take care of the problem. But yesterday it happened again when it started to rain. Retired on fixed income. HELP.

You should get the wires checked that power the windshield wipers/wiper motor. It's possible that the insulation on the wires may be gone or melted or something. If the insulation is gone, then the wires might be coming in contact with other wires or metal parts and that could probably blow the fuse.

To: Michael 7500. Thank you so much for the quick reply to my problem. I will have the wiring checked. Thank you again. Wow. I am so impressed. I just can't thank you enough. I tried to give feed back to you -- something to do with points, but I didn't understand it all. So here I am giving you 1000 points.

Ha ha, thanks for the 1000 points. I don't really understand the feedback thing either. And I hope that your car gets fixed soon. As I'm sure you know, having no wipers on a rainy night isn't very safe. :) I also hope that my advice helps you and that checking the wires wont be a waste of time, since I'm not a mechanic or anything. But I do remember reading somewhere about a problem like yours with blowing fuses on some other website, and someone suggested that the wires may be corroded, and the person replied that they were right, so I'm thinking you have the same problem.

Hi Michael, Yes was very scary to suddenly not have wipers during rain. I still thank you so much. Will let you know how all turns out. As I said am on limited budget and had to make emergency trips recently. Could barely afford what it cost in gasoline. Bringing us to our knees. Thanks again. "Toots"

I hope I am doing this right. No, haven't found anyone who would reasonably try to chase down if was a bare wire touching metal, etc. Replaced fuse with 30 and seems to be working so far when I need them. Fortunately or unfortunatly, however you look at it) we haven't had much rain. Thanks for checking back. " Golden years suck. "

Well, I'm glad that your wipers seem to be working now. That's always good. Good luck with them! And also sorry that I took over a month to reply, my computer lost all of it's memory so I forgot about this website. But anyway it's too bad nobody will check your wires for a reasonable price. I wouldn't think it would be that hard. Well anyway good luck with your Caprice. I read a review once about a Caprice Taxi that went over 500,000 miles on the original engine. (I believe it was a 1990). Hope yours does too!
