Engine Mechanical problem
1994 Chevy Camaro V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 158XXX miles

Hello my 94 camaro z28 is leaking. Even with fresh oil the oil that leaks onto the ground is black. So would it be a leak from the upper part of the engine? What are places common places the LT1 Engine would leak oil from? Thanks

Valve cover gaskets or oil pressure switch are common failures. Clean engine add some dye run it. Check with blacklight oil will glow yellow/green

I agree with the doc. Oil pressure switch is real common and you can just add the dye to the oil, you dont need to change it.

Alright my oil leak is coming from the front of my engine. So I took off the water pump and its not coming from the water pump seal and I took of the optispark (distributor) and the opti seal has no oil coming out of it. Below the distributor cap and is a bunch of sludge built up. Could it be my timing cover seal? Or the oil pan gasket?

If the oil pan is dry except for around front. Pull T-cover then loosen oil pan bolts toward the back until front drops a bit. Replace crank seal and front pan seal. If you need pan removed click on site at bottom of reply.

There is a slot cut in balancer mount in you hand. When you had cover off remember see a raised metal strip that the crank gear sliped on? The piece that stuck out thats what you align to slot.
Torque 60-75 ft. Lbs miss typed

Hey theres no key mark or dent.. I was told the LT1 engine has a press fit crank hub and not keyed. Also the balancing is done on the flywheel/flexplate.

Harmonic balancer bolts to hub. Line hub up tap with dead blow or rubber mallet until you can thread vbolt then tighten. It will draw hub on.
