When I start the car, it instantly dies before I can take my hand off the ignition. After that it wont even try and turn over, I have to wait about 30 min. To an hour before I can try again. There's no fuel smell or leak that I can see, have 1/2 tank of gas, oil change last month, trans fluid is fine. It ran fine 4 days ago and now nothing. Any ideas on what it can be? Please keep in mind I do not know much about engines.

Sounds like a starter problem. Has it been replaced? Check all connectoins at battery, starter, ground wire from block that runs to battery. Have the alternator checked also. I assume the battery is good. Let me know the outcome.

All the connections are good. Battery is only 4 months old. Starter seems to be working. As I said, it will start, but before I take my hand off the keys, it dies, then wont start again, just sounds like Im trying to start it with no gas.

Have you checked fuel inj resistance. Should be around 11 or 12 ohms for each injector. One bad injector will shut off injector circuit from computer. Checkthat and let me know.

Have you also tried to short across the starter terminals (small one shorted to big one) with the key on?
