It is necessary to remove the upper engine mounting strut to remove the water pump? I'm not shure, she comes out when i left the strut in place. (The strut is shown on the left side of the engine, looks in silver color). :|
Reason: cooling water squirts on powersteering pump, the seal is broken.

If you support the engine underneath with a floorjack and block of wood (careful of the oil pan) and remove the front mount, then you can jack th engine up a little for more working space

Suggested Repair

Support the engine from underneath with a floor jack and a block of wood, keeping the jack clear of the oil pan. Remove the front mount and raise the engine slightly to gain working room for the water pump.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 1993 Chevrolet Beretta GT 3.1 with 95,000 miles asked whether the upper engine mounting strut must be removed to replace a water pump whose broken seal sprays coolant onto the power steering pump. They thought the pump could come out with the strut left in place. The expert advised supporting the engine with a floor jack and wood block, avoiding the oil pan, removing the front mount, and raising the engine slightly for more working space.
