Hello, the motor to my driver's side window has failed. I have the panels removed exposing the motor.

Can the motor be replaced without removing the entire regulator from the door? I understand there is a very strong counter spring on the regulator. My Haynes manual is unclear on this point, but cautions strongly about this spring.

Many thanks!!!! Randy Jackson, Spring Hill, Florida

Regulator must be removed
for you to be able to drill out the old motor
just before you drill out the motor and after removing the regulator
make sure you install a screw through sector gear and backing plate at hole provided to lock sector gear into position
