1995 Chevy Astro poor milage, bad running

'95 van sat for two years, ( it all ways had a rough idle, surging, but ran well) only started a few times (but started fast, no smoke) Drove it from NJ to Ct. After a while in Ct, it ran poorly, no gas milage, no power. New plugs and wires were put in. My son has the van in Ct, he's having a hard time with things (employment without a car) so he needs help. Any ideas?

Replace distributor cap, rotor, check for computer codes, check for leaks around intake manifold gaskets, replace pcv valve, check hoses, check for clean air filter, it all of this is checked then take it to a mechanic for a full diagnostic!
