1994 Chevy Astro ignition starting

The first and second time I try to start my van it makes this funny rough noise and doesn't start then after a few times it starts. What could that be?

Hello,

Sounds like a short in the Starter. If you are able remove the starter and take to your local auto parts store and have them test it. You could also drive by and have them test it while still on the vehicle.
