What I need you to do is take the van to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan it for trouble codes. Because of the type of problem, it could be many things, and we need a place to start. You could check for vacuum leaks prior to the test. Just place your ear near the engine and listen for a hissing sound. If you hear one, locate where it's coming from.
