Hi,
How badly did the engine overheat? Was the gauge fully in the red area? If it was, the first thing I need you to do is record the engine cranking and upload it for me to hear. There is a chance you warped the cylinder head and have lost compression. I should be able to tell by listening to it.
If you can't do that, try this and let me know what happens. See if it starts using starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know there is fuel related issue. If there is no change, check to see if there is spark to the plugs.
Here is a link that explains how that is done:

If you have spark and starting fluid makes no difference, chances are we lost engine compression. If this is suspected, you will need to perform a compression test.
You will need a compression tester, but most parts stores will lend one to you free of charge. Here is a link explaining how it is done.
Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.
Take care,
Joe
