So if the light is on, that means the system is active and thinks the car is trying to be stolen. This happens sometimes when the battery is unhooked.

Normally, this just needs to be disarmed and you are good to go. Try a couple things. First, unlock the door with the key fob. If this doesn't work then try unlocking it with the key in the door. Lastly, try putting the key in the ignition and turning it to the on position and leave it sit for about 30 minutes, checking every 10 minutes to see when the theft light turns off. Once it turns off, you are good to go. Clearly when doing this, turn off all accessories like the A/C, radio, and roll the driver window down and close the door. This way you don't lock the key in the car and the lights turn off.
