When I unlock my car with my key fob, the hazard lights go off and my trunk pops open. When I try to start the car, a message pops up on the dash that says use transmission pocket. I put the key in the transmission pocket, push the brake and push the start button and it still won’t turn on. I tried to get a jump, yet it did nothing.

I suspect you mean "put key in transmitter pocket" and not transmission?

If this is the case then more than likely you have an issue with the key, the key battery, or the antenna that picks up the key signal.

The easiest thing to do is try your second key and see if that has the same issue. If not, then you more than likely need to change the battery in the key that does not work.

If this does not work, then we need to start with checking for codes.

Even though the check engine light is not on, you will have what are called B codes or Body Codes which will cover this keyless go system.

If neither key works, then I suspect, we have an issue what is called the immobilizer unit. So, I highly suspect we will have codes.

Please see below for the most common codes but let's start with this and go from there. Thanks

Thank you. If the keys don’t work and it’s the immobilizer unit, what would I need to have fixed or what could it be?

Well, that is going to depend on the codes. If the keys are not the issue and you need to replace the immobilizer or something else, there should be codes that go with it.

There are a number of codes that relate to this. Basically, it could just be the security code is not programmed or the unit is shorted.

I attached the info below on the various modules that are part of this system, and each could be at fault, so we need to start with codes, or we are just guessing.
