My car will turn over, but it will not start even after I got a jump. It had been in the below zeros all week so I'm hoping it's just the battery. What do you think?

Hi,

Does the starter engage with the engine and turn it and then the engine just doesn't start? Also, is the temperature outside still below 0? I ask because yes, the cold may have affected the battery, but if it is cranking with a jump, it should still start. It makes me think you may have fuel line freeze up which isn't common, but it can happen.

Do me a favor. First, make sure the battery terminals on your vehicle are clean and tight.

Next, if the engine cranks okay with your battery, great. If it doesn't, I would recharge it.

After the battery is good, then I want you to see if the engine will start with starting fluid. If it starts and then stalls, we know there is a fuel-related issue. If there is no change, then I need you to check for spark at the spark plugs.

Here is a link that explains how to check:

Try this and let me know the results. Also, if you need to jump-start it, make sure not to create sparks when using the starting fluid.

Take care and I'll watch for your reply.
