I checked timing chain and timing is correct. It has spark and fuel but just will not crank at all. Sprayed starting fluid and still does not start. Has compression also.

Hello,

It sounds like the vehicle might have a blocked catalytic converter.
I suggest next removing the upstream oxygen sensor from the exhaust and then see if the engine will start.

Cheers, Boris

Thanks for your reply! When the car was purchased, the catalytic converter had been already removed. So, It has none.

Just to jump in on this, we need to find out how you checked fuel and spark. I understand you used starter fluid but how did you check for spark?

Here is a guide that will help with checking this:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-for-ignition-spark

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

Basically, we need fuel, spark, air, and compression in order to start an engine. So, this means we are most likely missing something with these items.

However, I think the next thing to do is get a video of the engine trying to start as that may give us the info that we need to figure out what may be happening.

Lastly, what were the compression readings when you checked it?

Please run through this info and let's go from there. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I checked spark and fuel the same way indicated in the articles that you have attached. My compression results were around 150-155 PSI on all cylinders.

Hello,

The compression values are plausible.
What fuel pressure did you get at the fuel rail?
Also did you check that you are getting spark at the spark plugs, meaning removing the spark plugs and grounding them while connected to each ignition coil. Then get someone to crank the engine while checking for a good, blueish color, spark. Careful not to get shocked!
Also, after cranking the engine and not starting, how do the spark plug tips look? They should be wet with fuel if there is sufficient fuel pressure, injectors spraying and no start.

Have you carried out a CAN scan to see if any relevant codes are stored?

The Fuel pressure was at 44, 45 and yes, I have checked the spark plugs grounded as you indicated, and spark looks good. The plugs are new, and the tips do look like they have tried to ignite the Fuel and air mixture because when I pull them out after trying to start It, they look a little smoked. I can take a rag and clean that little smoked off of them and they are new again. I haven't got a good scan tool, but I did ready the codes and it Is giving me P1590 and U0101.

Okay. That info helps but backs up what Boris was suggesting. It sounds like you may have a wiring or EMC issue.

I am attaching the testing for the P1590. Basically, that is telling you that the PCM and TCM are not able to communicate.

I would expect this would result in a no crank no start and not a crank no start but that could be the case as well.
