Overheating caused the head gasket to burn. Hence a need for replacement. After replacing the head gasket, mechanic coupled back to test run the engine. The engine will start for a while and stop. At times we need to place leg on accelerator to prevent the engine from stopping.

When you replaced the head gasket, did you check the head with a straight edge?

If the head is warped then there could be all sorts of different issues. Here is a guide that talks about stalling at idle issues:

We should also make sure the basics are covered which is start with a compression test.

Lastly we are going to have to check for codes.

Once we get this info we will know what direction to go. Even no info is some info so let's run through this and go from there. Thanks
