Car stalling at low speed while making a left turn

I recently installed a new (remanufactured) transmission in my car. I was assisted by a friend (SAE certified mechanic). After all work was completed I took it out and drove it for several miles. On two short trips (less than 5 miles) as I was pulling into my driveway (low speed, left turn) the car stalled. I have tried to recreate this situation and determine if something does not feel or sound right. It only happens during left turns and at low speed. Has never happened during a right turn. Checked all of the hoses again to make sure all was connected properly--no vacuum leak that I can see. No check engine light.

You may have a simple low idle issue assuming you disconnected the battery during the recent service.

If the battery was recently disconnected or run dead the Engine Computer lost its memory and has to relearn "minimum throttle" before it will know when it must be in control of idle speed. The engine will be hard to start unless you hold the gas pedal down 1/4". It also might not give you the normal "idle flare-up" to 1500 rpm when you start the engine, and the engine will want to stall when coming to stop. To meet the conditions for the relearn to take place, drive at highway speed with the engine warmed up, then coast for at least seven seconds without touching the brake or gas pedals.

Thanks. Car starts fine and runs great. Does good under power and the problem only occurs while making a left turn.
