Car is turning over when starting but not starting. I hear the fuel pump come up but car won’t start. My car started overheating a little bit and I turned it off went in the store an it won’t start. Someone said let it cool off because crankshaft sensor might be too hot.

If the engine started to overheat and now will not start, then we need to start with this info.

It is unlikely to be the crank sensor but that is on the list. Here is a guide that will get started:

If letting it cool off did not get the engine to start, then we need to start with checking the compression as that is the most likely cause.

If the compression is fine, and you can hear the pump, then we need to check for spark. This could be a crank sensor issue, but when you crank the engine do you get a small amount of movement on the RPM in the cluster?

If you do than more then likely the crank sensor is picking up the rotation.

However, we need to find out if we have spark, but with the issue that happened I suspect the head warped.

Here is a guide that will help with checking the head gasket as that will most likely be where we need to go:

Please run through all this info and let us know what you find, so that we can determine the best direction to go.

Thanks
