After I had it towed home; I thought the whine that I heard meant the starter went out, so I put another starter in but heard the same whine. Later I took it out and bench tested both starters and they function like they should so, today I took a video audio of it but after hearing it I hear a whine and what I think sounds like piston slap.

Hi,

It sounds like you broke the timing chain. Listening to your video, there is no engine compression. Additionally, this is an interference engine meaning there isn't enough room between the pistons and valves if the chain breaks. The result is the pistons and valves make contact. I suspect that is what you hear. (piston slap)

This vehicle has a 10-year 100K powertrain warranty. You need to contact a dealer. It should be covered. In this case, they will likely replace the entire engine due to internal damage.

If you want to confirm there is no compression, here is a link that explains how to check:

Let me know what they tell you or if you have questions.

Take care,

joe
