Hi all. Brand new Elantra, getting noise on first startup of the day. A pretty common problem I've learned, but still no known cause I'm aware of. Sound has been described as a whine or pressurising sound, lasts about 2 seconds then goes away. No driveability problems. Here is a youtube clip I found with another owner having the same problem.

Seems like alot of the new Elantras do this, so I'm sure someone out there knows what it is.

Thanks!

I haven't taken it in yet. It's going in for it's first oil change this week, and I'll mention it to them. But with all the talk about it online, I figure someone must know what it is!

that's what we ALL think! even if they are AWARE of the issue they may deny the existence of any problem. blame it on LAWYERS?

Sounds like an air pump running . It runs on cold start ups on some cars.

Hi!
I bought a 2013 Elantra and I hear some water water in the dashboard when I stop and begin moving. It doesn't this regardless of whether the engine is cold or that I have been driving for an hour.
I brought the car to the dealership and they thought it was the head gasket that was bad, so they replaced it but did not fix the issue....any one had this problem? what was done to fix it?
Thanks.
