My car was driving perfectly fine I got to work and went to lunch and it was normal. At the end of the day I was driving home and I stopped at a light and my car jerked like if someone hit me from behind. I looked and no one was behind me. A few seconds later it did it again. Then when I was accelerating it jerked the same way just various times. My check engine light did not come on. So this morning I am driving and as I was accelerating the light finally came on but went back off. Any idea what this could be? I noticed when the AC is on it does it more frequent, but when it is off it is not as frequent. But, I do not think it has anything to do with the AC.

Good morning.

I would start by having the code read by a parts store. It is a free service. Then I can narrow the area of failure for this.

It sounds like a fuel delivery issue.

Will it code even if the lights not on anymore? Also, when this happened my gas was almost low I had 50 miles left then it was fluctuating from 40 to 34 it stayed at 34 for a quite sometime finally went down to 31 and back to 34. Then the gas light finally went on. I put in a little more than half a tank and I noticed it was not doing it as much but after a while it started more frequent. The only difference that the car has experienced is that it was parked at a slant in the parking garage. Usually I get a good space so it is level but I had no choice, but I do not know if that would affect anything.

When the code set it stays in memory even though the light went out. They will find the code in history codes.

Hello BVALDEZ,

I am sending your two links to helpful and informative information from this site. You will find written step by step instructions on how to scan for codes and check your fuel pressure yourself. If you decide you would like do this test yourself you can purchase a fuel pressure gauge and a code scanner online from sites like Amazon.com. Most scanners are fairly inexpensive.
Once you have the codes please get back to us so that we can further assist you.
